EcoProject wins Outstanding CSR Project in Environment at 2023 LCF CSR Guild Awards

The Knowledge Channel Foundation, Inc. (KCFI) won the Outstanding Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Project in Environment award at the League of Corporate Foundations’ (LCF) 2023 CSR Guild Awards for EcoProject: Kilos Kabataan Para sa Kapaligiran.

KCFI’s two-year old EcoProject is a collaboration with Unilever – Breeze Philippines that aimed to educate, engage, and empower young learners to become environmental champions for their communities. Through different “Eco Missions” - E-Collect, Eco Garden, Eco Planter, and Eco Diary – EcoProject developed over 20,000 children to be eco-champions. These children are from 47 different public schools in Marikina City, Taguig City, and Pateros. They also collected more than 30,000 kilograms of recyclable plastic waste for upcycling.

Six winners of E-Collect weighed their collected materials at their schools.

Schools showed off their creativity, resourcefulness, and communal spirit through their Eco Gardens.

The Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Guild Awards is an annual recognition ceremony of outstanding CSR programs that have made exceptional strides towards sustainability and social good, and was held as part of the LCF’s yearly CSR Expo. This year, with the theme “From Extra to Essential,” LCF hosted a CSR Conference for delegates of member organizations from July 4 to 6, and a CSR Expo at the Glorietta 2 Activity Center for the general public on July 6 and 7.

For the CSR Expo’s closing ceremony, KCFI, Aboitiz Foundation and the LCF Committee on Education set up Knowledge On The Go, an interactive trivia game show with Knowledge Channel host Marlo Mortel. Players received prizes from LCF member-organizations, Aboitiz Foundation, Pilipinas Shell Foundation, and the Energy Development Corporation.

KCFI has been a long-time active member of the LCF, the country’s largest network of operating and grant-making foundations and corporations, and its Vice President and Director of Operations, Mr. Edric Calma, is a member of the LCF Board of Trustees.
