GSIS, SKY Grants Wish of Cam Norte School

Sarah Jane Ferrer High School receives the Gift of Knowledge from Knowledge Channel Foundation (KCFI), SKY and the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS).

Thanks to the collaborative effort of private, government, and non-government organizations, the wish of a rural school in Vinzons, Camarines Norte was granted when they received a Gift of Knowledge Package which included a 40-inch television, an external hard drive with more than 1,500 educational videos and digital resources, and a SKY Direct connection.

Last August 2018, KCFI received a letter from teacher Mark Jim Torero of Sarah Jane Ferrer HS pleading for Knowledge Channel materials for the “intellectual nourishment and growth” of their students. In an interview with Torero, he shared that one of their biggest challenges as a rural school was access to quality educational resources especially now that their enrollment has grown to more than 600. Their principal Wenefredo Rubio responded to this by initiating a campaign to upgrade the school’s facilities of which he had instructed Torero to reach out to KCFI for support.

With the help of GSIS and SKY, KCFI was able to deliver a Gift of Knowledge Project to Sarah Jane Ferrer High School. “Para sa mga bagong henerasyon po, sana matulungan po nitong Gift Of Knowledge na’to o yung mga palabas na ito ang mga kabataan,” said Torero.

Ako po’y nagpapasalamat na simula po siguro sa araw na ito hindi na po kami ma-le-left behind lalo na po ang mga guro at estudyante ng Sarah Jane Ferrer High School,” co-teacher Vivian Sereno added.

Since 1999, KCFI, with the help of various partners and sponsors, more than 5 million learners in the Philippines have benefited and continue to benefit from the educational videos and shows of Knowledge Channel Foundation.
