Mahatao, Batanes, June 12, 2017 – Two high schools in Mahatao and Ivana, Batanes were recently reconnected to Knowledge Channel and have resumed utilizing the latter’s multimedia learning resources as they teach in their classrooms, thanks to the donation of the “Gift of Knowledge” made by Land Bank of the Philippines and Knowledge Channel Foundation (KCFI).

The package provided each to Mahatao High School and Ivana High School includes a 40” LED television, a set of external speakers, and a portable media library containing more than 1,000 educational videos, games and other resources, and an accompanying teacher training on maximizing the use of Knowledge Channel in the classroom.

“It’s just not an equipment – it’s a learning package. There are a lot of videos, games and supplementary materials as well which both the teachers and the students can use. When we bring the Knowledge Channel to your school, we bring not just learning English, Science, Math, Agriculture, or Basic Financial Literacy and other subjects but we also bring you connection to the rest of the country and the world,” said Rina Lopez Bautista, President and Executive Director of Knowledge Channel Foundation.

WATCH: Enchong Dee immerses himself in agricultural activities

It was in 2012 when KCFI first forged a partnership with Land Bank that resulted in the development of now an eleven-episode series called AgriCOOLture. The series, whose initial pilot episodes were hosted by Aaron Villaflor and the subsequent installment by Enchong Dee, captured in audio/visual format the tenets necessary for teaching and learning the curriculum content of Technology and Livelihood Education (TLE) in Crop Production, Poultry, Fishery Arts and Agri-preneurship.

Well-received by teachers and students alike, AgriCOOLture harnesses the value and significance of agriculture in our country’s food security and economy in general and to the lives of every Filipino.
