MathDali Receives Special Citation at UP Gandingan 2017

“Tumunog na ang gandingan!” Knowledge Channel’s MathDali was recently awarded with the “UP ComBroadSoc’s Choice for the Most Development-Oriented Educational TV Program” at the 11th UP Gandingan Awards last April 29.

This Special Citation from the UP Community Broadcaster’s Society (ComBroadSoc) is in recognition of the show’s objective of encouraging learners to develop a positive attitude towards Math. It aimed to address the dismal performance of Filipino children when it comes to this “most feared subject”, with National Achievement Test Scores not even reaching 75 percent.

Carrying 36 episodes in its first series, MathDali already covered essential Math topics in Grade 4 following the K to 12 Curriculum of the Department of Education. It also borrowed its approach from renowned educators like Carol Dweck of Stanford University (“Growth Mindset”) and Jo Boaler of Stanford Graduate School of Education (“Mathematical Mindsets”).

So far, MathDali is the only locally-produced and curriculum-based show on television that fully discusses Math topics taken up in school. The show is hosted by Robi Domingo, Joj and Jai Agpangan, Igiboy Flores, and Vic Robinson.

MathDali is a brainchild of Rina Lopez Bautista, Knowledge Channel Foundation President and Executive Director, and Carlo Katigbak, CEO of ABSCBN. The show was made possible in partnership with ABSCBN Lingkod Kapamilya Foundation and the Department of Education.
