In anticipation of the upcoming 20th Anniversary of Knowledge Channel Foundation Inc. (KCFI), four more schools and an Alternative Learning System (ALS) community center now have access to more than 1,000 educational videos and learning resources thanks to the proceeds from the “Admit One, Educate All” movie block screening (MBS) event of Knowledge Channel Foundation Inc. (KCFI) held last November 2018.
The beneficiaries are Dr. Manuel Catalan, an ALS teacher from Alcala, Pangasinan along with Alcala Central School, Bacon East Central School in Sorsogon, and Aguinaldo Elementary School and Mayoyao Elementary School in Ifugao.
Alcala ALS Center and Alcala Central School
Dr. Manuel Catalan was the first recipient of the Gift of Knowledge as a response to a letter he has sent appealing for Knowledge Channel videos that he and his co-teachers can use to teach their ALS learners from 21 different barangays in their district. The package included a brand-new Lenovo Laptop, a USB mouse and an external hard drive with Knowledge Channel ALS video content. Alcala Central School also received an external hard drive with Knowledge Channel videos and other digital learning resources. The package was formally turned over last March 5 at Alcala Central School and attended by the following ALS Education Program Specialists from the Department of Education, Division 2, Pangasinan: Rosie L. Javier, Darlene O.Mange, Mirasol B. Ledesma, Jovita I. Padua, and Federico R. Antonio, Jr.
Bacon East Central School
The second recipient was Bacon East Central School which received a Gift of Knowledge package that included a 40-inch LCD TV, external speakers, and an external hard drive with Knowledge Channel educational videos and other multimedia materials. A formal turnover event was held at the school and attended by KCFI President and Executive Director Rina Lopez Bautista, Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Nympha D. Guemo, and Bacon East Central School Principal Neleuterio Dellosa. Bacon East Central School is the third school to be connected to the Knowledge Channel since 2015.
Aguinaldo and Mayoyao Elementary Schools
Two remote schools located in Ifugao also received a Gift of Knowledge Package allowing them to learn through technology. Children and teachers in both schools can now watch their favorite Knowledge Channel shows on-demand. KCFI President and Executive Director Rina Lopez Bautista and Head for Access and School Community Engagement personally delivered and turned over these packages to the beneficiary schools.
Aside from educational TV packages, teachers have also received a one-day technical training on maximizing the use of media technology in their classrooms through Knowledge Channel.
