Official statement against the proliferation of fake news during the COVID-19 Pandemic

It has come to the attention of Knowledge Channel Foundation, Inc. (KCFI) that its logo was used in a fake news post on Twitter.

Over the past 20 years, KCFI has established itself as a reputable organization that helps uplift the lives of Filipino children through media and education. We are molded and guided by our core values namely: social justice, passion to serve, commitment to holistic learning, integrity, and nationalism.

We have been tirelessly working with various individuals, groups, and organizations whose aim is to help improve the quality of education in our country. We work countless hours, spend a lot of our resources and manpower to ensure that we deliver only the best educational content on television and online.

It is but disheartening to see that KCFI is being used for spreading political agenda on social media. Using our name, logo and assets to strike discord, misinform and confuse our fellow Filipinos in time of this COVID-19 Pandemic is nothing but deplorable. There is no excuse for such behavior. Lives are on the line because of this crisis.

With heightened social media activity during the Enhanced Community Quarantine, we advise everyone to be discerning and vigilant netizens. Always verify your sources of information before posting and sharing.

While the virus is spreading, so does fake news.

I request everyone to fight the proliferation of fake news together and report these malicious activities immediately.
