If you are a K-10 Teacher or a Child Development Worker/Teacher (CDWT), the search for Gurong May K: Best Teachers of Knowledge Channel Awards eagerly awaits your participation!

This search is dedicated to celebrating exceptional Basic Education Teachers and Child Development Workers/Teachers who effectively utilize Knowledge Channel learning resources/videos in their classrooms, showing learners everywhere na ang saya matuto ng bago! 

FREE FOR ALL ELIGIBLE TEACHERS!

The program is open for teachers who meet the eligibility criteria without any cost or entry fee.

Eligibility

Integrate Knowledge Channel multimedia learning resources in their lessons and activities in the classroom.

Actively teaching for at least 2 years in either:

  • Basic Education (K-G10) or

  • Child Development Centers

Have the necessary license for teaching:

  • Teachers - PRC License

  • Child Development Teachers/Workers - Permit to operate from MSWDO/LGU

PRIZES

The awards ceremony will honor outstanding educators utilizing Knowledge Channel, demonstrating the search's four criteria.

Both categories for Basic Education and Early Childhood Development will acknowledge the top 5 finalists and each receiving cash prizes and learning resources. Furthermore, one exceptional teacher from each category will be granted the prestigious title of “Gurong May K: Best Teacher of Knowledge”, along with Php100,000.00 and educational resources.

Requirements

  1. Completed entry form.
  2. Recommendation form from immediate head/ supervisor:
    • For Basic Education Teachers: Principal, School Heads, Supervisor
    • For CWD/Ts: Recommendation letter from the supervisor, Municipal/City Social Welfare and Development Officer, and/or Sangguniang Bayan Education and Children Council Member
  3. Supporting documents, namely:
  • Photos and/or videos documenting the use of Knowledge Channel learning resources in the classroom.
  • Photos and/or videos documenting classroom setup and learning strategies employed.
  • Sample lesson plans and/or full daily lesson logs that integrate Knowledge Channel learning resources.
  • Written documentation of sample learning activities which use Knowledge Channel learning resources, containing the activity’s title, objectives, and sequential instructions.
  • Assessment tools and student works

Criteria

  • Demonstrates mastery and depth of understanding of the subject through careful review and nuanced selection of multimedia learning resources and educational technology to use in the classroom, encouraging a more effective and engaging teaching-learning environment.

    Nagpapakita ng bukod-tanging pag-unawa sa paksa sa pamamagitan ng maingat na pagsusuri at makabuluhang pagpili ng multimedia learning resources at educational technology na gagamitin sa silid-aralan, para sa isang mas epektibo at nakaka-engganyong teaching-learning process/environment

  • Exhibits proficiency in the integration of educational media and technology in the classroom, consistently promoting better learning outcomes in students while nurturing their holistic development through the use of 21st-century pedagogies.

    Lubos na mahusay na nakakapagsanib ng educational media at technology sa silid-aralan para sa pagpapataas ng antas ng pagkatuto at pagpapayaman ng kabuuang pagkatao ng mga mag-aaral sa pamamagitan ng 21st-century pedagogies

  • Demonstrates a refined understanding of learner needs and capabilities in relation to desired learning outcomes, providing effective and tailored learning assessments to set them up for success both inside and outside the classroom.

    Mayroog malalim at natatanging pag-unawa sa mga pangangailangan at kakayahan ng sakop niyang mga mag-aaral para sa pagkamit ng desired learning outcomes, na nasusukat sa paggamit ng epektibong learning assessments para maging magtagumpay sila sa loob at labas ng silid-aralan

  • Advocates for a responsive and effective learning environment for all Filipino children, upholding Knowledge Channel's core values of social justice, passion to serve, commitment to holistic learning, integrity, and nationalism in the classroom and community

    Nagsusulong at masigasig na kumikilos para sa pagtataguyod ng isang responsive at effective na learning environment para sa bawat batang Pilipino, habang isinasapuso ang Knowledge Channel core values ng katarungang panlipunan (social justice), marubdob na pagsisilbi (passion to serve), Komitment sa kabuuang pagkatuto (commitment to holistic learning), integridad (integrity), at nasyonalismo/pagmamahal (nationalism) sa paaralan at komunidad

Judging Process

  • The first-level judging panel, comprised of the School and Community Engagement (SCE) department of Knowledge Channel, will assess how nominees meet the above criteria through carefully reviewing the entry forms and supporting documents provided.

    The top 10 nominees will be shortlisted/selected to move on to the second level of judging.

  • The selected panel of judges will interview nominees to further assess how they meet the criteria, which will help the panel decide which educators will be given the title, Gurong May K: Best Teachers of Knowledge for K-10.

    The 5 finalists are called “Mga Gurong May K”.
