Field Trip Safety Guidelines for Teachers

With the Department of Education (DepEd) lifting the moratorium on educational field trips, schools are now allowed again to conduct co-curricular and extra-curricular off-campus activities. In a DepEd press release issued earlier this year, Education Secretary Leonor Magtolis Briones emphasized the importance of ensuring the safety of learners in conducting educational trips. “As the primary institution mandated to ensure access to quality basic education, it is imperative for the Department to look after the security and safety of learners in its education-related activities,” she said.

Teachers are advised to follow DepEd Order 66, s. 2017 or the “Implementing Guidelines on the Conduct of Off-Campus Activities.” Knowledge Channel Foundation Inc. (KCFI) has summarized some of the important points of this order in the infographic below. Teachers are encouraged to post this on their bulletin boards as a reminder.
