KCFI, BDO Foundation, and Huawei Philippines team up for Dumaguete City teachers
Knowledge Channel Foundation, Inc. (KCFI), BDO Foundation, and Huawei Philippines, in partnership with the Schools Division Office of Dumaguete (SDO Dumaguete), worked together to bring Knowledge Channel Teaching in the New Normal 3 or KC TINN 3 to the teachers of Dumaguete City to further prepare them for the incoming school year.
KC TINN 3 is a three-day online training program that aims to equip teachers with the knowledge and skills that they need to not only maximize and use the Knowledge Channel video lessons in their classrooms, but also to create and foster positive learning experiences.
The training also comes with a free Knowledge Channel Portable Media Library (KC PML), an external hard drive loaded with Department of Education (DepEd) aligned curriculum-based video lessons, e-games, e-session guides, and other learning materials, for each school.
The training kicked off with opening remarks from Ms. Rina Lopez Bautista, president of KCFI; Mr. Mario Deriquito, president of BDO Foundation; and, Dr. Gregorio Cyrus Elejorde, superintendent of SDO Dumaguete, followed by an introduction of the participating schools: Babajuba Elementary School, Balugo Elementary School, Cadawinonan Elementary School, Camanjac Elementary School, Candau-Ay Elementary School, Cantil-E Elementary School, Hermenegilda Flores Gloria Memorial Elementary School, Magsaysay Memorial Elementary School, North City Elementary School, and South City Elementary School.
KC TINN’s resource persons were Mr. Edric Calma, Director of Operations of KCFI; Mr. Roseo Caburian, Jr., Public Schools District Supervisor (PSDS) of SDO Marikina City; and Dr. Ma. Lourdes Nery-Cura, KC OIC and faculty at DepEd’s National Academy of Sports. Facilitators from KCFI – Ms. Maggie Del Valle-Ramoso, Ms. Christine Billedo, and Ms. Sue Saavedra – were also present to assist and deliver sessions during the training.
During the training, one representative from each school was tasked to create a lesson exemplar. Through this lesson exemplar, participants were able to showcase their understanding of the topics by creating a detailed lesson plan that integrated the Knowledge Channel video lessons with their topic/s of choice. After each presentation from school representatives, their respective school head and KCFI trainers, Mr. Caburian and Dr. Nery-Cura, were asked for their comments and suggestions to further improve not just the lesson exemplar, but also everyone’s understanding on how to more effectively integrate the discussed concepts and frameworks into their classrooms.
Schools were also asked to create a Stakeholder Engagement Plan, which aimed to incorporate the Knowledge Channel video lessons into their learning continuity plans for the academic year. Through this plan, the schools thought of how to involve the various stakeholders in their community – the parents, the barangay, the church, the local government unit (LGU), civic groups, businesses, and alumni – in the distribution and utilization of the Knowledge Channel video lessons to achieve the most effective learning outcomes for the children.
“The Knowledge Channel is an angel of DepEd”
“The Knowledge Channel is an angel of DepEd,” said Mr. Noel Bayno, the principal of South City Elementary School, in his short speech during the closing program, along with Ms. Jessica Mae Gomez of Magsaysay Memorial Elementary School. “Totally, this webinar is comprehensive but captivating because we did not think that this is an additional task or burden to our loads, but it did enrich our knowledge and increase our desirable quality attributes in teaching and learning,” he added.
The teachers also had these to say about the training:
“I gained so many ideas and strategies that will make my teaching enjoyable and easier to prepare.”
“I enjoyed the seminar. I am excited to use the Knowledge Channel in my class.”
“The training was very impressive and enriching. It’s very useful, most especially in conducting face-to-face classes.”
“The training is informative. It gives the teachers new information or insights that they wouldn’t otherwise be able to access.”
“It was engaging. Everyone was really listening and participating.”
“It was fun as well as informative.”

The training was conducted online via Google Meet from August 17 to August 19, 2022 from 8:00am to 2:30pm, with asynchronous discussions being facilitated through Facebook.
