Sumitomo Mitsui inks MOA with KCFI for FinLit video

A Japanese bank is helping Filipino students on financial literacy through media.
One of Japan’s leading financial institutions has recently partnered with Knowledge Channel Foundation (KCFI) to create an episode on Financial Literacy or FinLit. With Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation’s (SMBC) donation of half a million pesos, KCFI will produce a video for Grade 9 following the Department of Education (DepEd) Curriculum in Araling Panlipunan or Social Studies.
Through the video episode, students will better understand the importance of saving money and investing, the composition of the monetary sector, and the role of the central bank (Banko Sentral ng Pilipinas or BSP) along with other related topics. The episode will also come with a session guide or lesson exemplar so teachers can better integrate the video in their classes.
Signing the memorandum of agreement (MOA) are Kenichi Hisomi, Senior Managing Executive Officer of SMBC, Hikoki Nakatsuka, General Manager of SMBC-Manila, Rina Lopez Bautista, President and Executive Director, KCFI and Edric Calma, Director for Operations, KCFI.
