KCFI celebrates Teachers’ Month online
Knowledge Channel Foundation highlights stories of teachers with #SalamatTeacher campaign
Education is one of the hardest hit sectors as the world grapples with the COVID-19 pandemic. Teachers, in particular, are facing a unique set of challenges as the Department of Education shelves face-to-face instruction in favor of distance and online learning for school year 2020-2021. This was reflected in this year’s National Teachers’ Month Campaign entitled “iTeach for a Better Future”.
To help celebrate this month-long event, Knowledge Channel Foundation launched #SalamatTeacher, a digital effort in appreciating the tireless effort and dedication of educators during the pandemic. Six teachers participated in this campaign by sharing their love for the profession and their learners.
One of the anecdotes was shared by Teacher Jogie Perez of West Canaan Elementary School in Nueva Ecjija. She was one of the KnowledgeTV beneficiaries in last year’s Knowledge Channel segment on It’s Showtime for World Teacher’s Day.
KCFI President and Executive Director Rina Lopez-Bautista also shared a video message saluting educators all over the country for their dedication. ” Kung walang mga guro, walang video lessons na ipapalabas para sa klase, walang lesson plans, walang activities, at higit sa lahat, walang gagabay sa ating kabataan na siyang kinabukasan ng ating bayan,” Lopez-Bautista said.
KCFI also re-released the National Teachers Prayer video and held two School at Home webinars for free on “Teaching in the New Normal” presented by Edric Calma and “Designing for Education” by Canva. More than 10,000 teachers registered for the webinars.
