To highly involve and educate children in farming, the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) has recently partnered with Knowledge Channel Foundation Inc. (KCFI) to develop seven 3-5 minute educational learning videos focusing on the basics of agriculture, soil science, fun farming facts among many others specifically made for Grades 3 to 6.

ATI is the training arm of the Department of Agriculture (DA) since 1987 and is mandated to train agricultural extension and their beneficiaries and lead in the delivery of e-extension services for agriculture and fisheries.

This series of educational videos entitled Agrikids, aims to promote the fun side of agriculture while children develop valuable skills and appreciation for the science and art. These will be made available via Knowledge Channel’s various media platforms.

“The Philippines is a highly agricultural country, there are countless opportunities in agriculture and it is very important to ingrain to our children their role in agri-development for a more sustainable future,” said KCFI President, Rina Lopez-Bautista.

The recently concluded ceremonial signing served as the highlight of ATI’s book launch featuring its new titles, Agriculturally Awesome: A Regional Farm Tourism Travel Guide and Sariling Atin: 25 Promising Native Plants of the Philippines.

The event was held at Teofely’s Garden in Silang, Cavite on Sept. 19.
