Knowledge Channel applauds interns under new program

More than 70 college students and their partner colleges and universities were recently recognized by Knowledge Channel Foundation Inc. (KCFI) for their invaluable contributions in uplifting the quality of Philippine basic education by completing their on-the-job training under the Knowledge Channel Internship Program or KCIP.

Held last May 28 at Benpres Building, the event acknowledged the hard work and dedication of the students and showcased their best outputs through an art exhibit entitled “Cross Dissolve” installed at the Lopez Museum and Library.

The afternoon recognition program was commenced by KCFI President and Executive Director Rina Lopez Bautista. In her opening message, she emphasized the of having interns work for the Foundation. “Our interns play such a pivotal role in achieving the vision of KCFI. Aside from learning and experiencing the world of work, they help create the instructional materials, the software, the marketing and communication activities, and the many other things KCFI does for our children and teachers.”

Keynote speaker and KCFI Board of Trustee Ms. Raissa Hechanova-Posadas also echoed a similar message oif KCIP interns making a difference in the work they do. “I hope that in these four walls of Knowledge Channel, you have found a home with us and you found a calling to be of service to others; and you found a friendship among like-minded individuals; and I hope you found an advocacy in education. You are making a difference and you can make a bigger difference.”

Program heads and representatives from Asia Pacific College (APC), iAcademy, University of the East (UE), STI Southwoods, Rizal Technological University (RTU), Don Bosco Technical Institute (DBTI), and Sta. Teresa College (STC) were also in attendance to witness the event. In a speech by Ms. Rhea-Luz Valbuena of APC, she expressed her gratitude and support to KCFI and its mission.

Capping off the event were inspirational speeches from former Department of Education Secretary Dr. Fe Hidalgo and KCFI scholar Atty. Hilmarie Nimo. Nimo, who recently passed the bar exam, shared how Knowledge Channel helped her achieve her dream of becoming a lawyer and imparted the acronym KCFI. “The key to achieving our goals is KCFI,” she said. “Know what your goal is. Claim and grab every opportunity. Find a way to achieve your goal. And invest more in doing good deeds.”

Josias Jardin, one of the interns who received a special award had nothing but good words to share to Knowledge Channel. “Being a part of this OJT program has taught me to work independently with little guidance, and to absorb everything like a sponge: from corporate culture to the nitty-gritty process involved in company deliverables,” he said.

Since last year, KCFI has been opening its doors to more talented young individuals, acknowledging how important their talents and skills are in helping shape a better education system for all Filipino children through multimedia.
