Knowledge Channel Foundation and East-West Seed Foundation Partner to Promote Vegetable Gardening Education

MAKATI CITY, Philippines (July 5, 2024) – East-West Seed Foundation, Inc. (EWSF) and Knowledge Channel Foundation, Inc. (KCFI) announced their partnership during the League of Corporate Foundation CSR EXPO 2024, themed "Reimagining a New and Inclusive Future." The collaboration aims to promote vegetable gardening education through EWSF's "VeggiEskwela" program.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the two organizations was signed during the culminating activity of the expo at the Glorietta Makati Activity Center. The partnership will provide KCFI with free and unlimited access to high-resolution files of "VeggiEskwela" episodes for use in alignment with the Department of Education (DepEd) curriculum and advocacy.

"VeggiEskwela" is a program designed to raise appreciation, production, and consumption of vegetables as a component of a healthy lifestyle and a contribution to food security. Through this partnership, the program's educational content will be integrated into Knowledge Channel's various on-demand platforms, including Knowledge TV and the Knowledge Channel Portable Media Library.

Ma. Elena P. Van Tooren, Executive Director of EWSF, expressed her enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, "We are excited to collaborate with Knowledge Channel Foundation to expand the reach of our 'VeggiEskwela' program. By leveraging their platforms, we can reach a wider audience and empower more students, teachers, parents, and communities with the knowledge and skills to grow their own food."

This partnership represents a significant step forward in promoting food security and healthy living through education. By combining the expertise of both organizations, the "VeggiEskwela" program can reach a broader audience and make a lasting impact on communities throughout the Philippines.
