Knowledge Channel Foundation Launches New MathDali Episodes for Grade 1 to Boost Early Numeracy
In partnership with BDO Foundation and Huawei Philippines
Pasig City - Knowledge Channel Foundation, Inc. (KCFI), BDO Foundation and Huawei Philippines, launched ten new episodes of its innovative math series, “MathDali Grade 1” aimed at teaching basic numeracy skills.
The launch held in Oranbo Elementary School on December 11, 2024, marked a significant milestone in KCFI, BDO Foundation and Huawei Philippines’ efforts to support math education through quality educational content. The ten new episodes feature engaging and interactive lessons that make learning math fun and accessible. With 5 pilot episodes done in 2023, “MathDali Grade 1” now has a total of 15 episodes for learning early numeracy skills with understanding and familiarization of grade 1 math concepts.
BDO Foundation Program Management Head of Financial Education Lawrence Kasman expressed pride in the success of the first batch of “MathDali” episodes in 2023, which garnered numerous awards, including the Anak TV Seal award and recognition from the 45th Catholic Mass Media Awards as Best Children and Youth Program.
“Through this partnership, we hope to improve basic education by leveraging innovative communication and technology,” Kasman said. BDO Foundation aims to empower both educators and learners with the new episodes.
KCFI Vice President Edric Calma emphasized the show’s commitment to developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills through appealing and enjoyable videos. “Our goal with MathDali has always been to make math easy, accessible, and enjoyable for our young learners,” he said.
MathDali host Robi Domingo shared his enthusiasm for the program’s growth. “Being part of MathDali has been a rewarding experience. Seeing how MathDali has evolved from 5 episodes in 2023 to creating even more engaging content for young students this year is truly inspiring.”
DepEd Central Bureau of Curriculum Development representative Gil Basa highlighted the importance of early numeracy skills, noting that they form the foundation for more complex mathematical concepts later on. Oranbo Elementary School Principal Diosdado Manubag expressed gratitude for the new “MathDali” episodes, as they will not only benefit learners but also provide teachers with new strategies to enhance their lessons.
"There are many Math video lessons online that are in English, but here in NCR (National Capital Region) we use the mother tongue,” said Glaiza Matias, a Mathematics teacher at Oranbo Elementary School. “We have difficulty in bridging the English video lessons to Tagalog, but with the help of MathDali which is in the mother tongue, teaching children will become easier for us and make learning more interesting for them."
