BY MICHAEL RAMOS

Knowledge Channel Foundation, along with 11 other TV networks, are working with AnakTV in mounting the Sinebata 2017 national competition and the Southeast Asia Prix Jeunesse.

The nationwide search is on for the best videos produced for, by and with children with the launching of SINEBATA 2017, the winners of which will represent the country in the first ever Southeast Asia Prix Jeunesse Children’s Film Festival to be held in Manila this November.

Sinebata is an annual video festival for children spearheaded by Anak TV, an organization that has been actively promoting “child-friendly, child sensitive, and family-oriented” programming.

In a press launch held on August 1, 2017 at B Hotel in Quezon City, Anak TV president Elvira Yap Go emphasized the role of children in contributing relevant media content especially in shooting and producing videos. “Anak TV saw the potential of Filipino children,” she said.

Aside from the announcement of the Sinebata national competition, Anak TV also launched the Southeast Asia Prix Jeunesse Video Festival. This is the very first video festival for children done in partnership with 11 other ASEAN countries. “50 percent of ASEAN are young people, so they should be given a space in the media,” said Yap Go as she narrated the journey of Anak TV in putting together the event.
