Lopez companies provide assistance to school in Rizal

A rural school in Rizal received much needed support during Brigada Eskwela from various Lopez company employees.

Located in the mountainous area of Morong, Rizal is Yapak Elementary School, a learning community with around 500 students and a handful of hardworking teachers. Led by their principal Lolita Mateo, volunteers from various Lopez companies were welcomed last June 8 as they spent a day planting vegetables, cleaning the school library and classrooms, and painting classroom doors. Employees from the Energy Development Company (EDC) also delivered a talk on disaster response and resiliency.

Children’s books were also donated by Lopez volunteers to the school and turned over by Knowledge Channel Foundation, Inc. President and Executive Director Rina Lopez Bautista and Director for Operations Edric C. Calma.

Mateo expressed much gratitude to the volunteers who visited their school despite its remote location. “Natuwa kami kasi dahil kahit napakalayo ng aming paaralan, hindi kami nabibigo at laging may sumusuporta – Ms Rina, Sir Edric – sa Yapak Elem School.”

Participating Lopez companies were Energy Development Corporation (EDC), Sky Cable, and Knowledge Channel Foundation (KCFI). Leading the event were members from the Lopez Group Foundation (LGFI) and Lopez Lifelong Wellness-Walk The Talk (LLW-WTT).
