Knowledge Channel supported PSYSC’s national science camp which drew hundreds of youth from all over the country.

More than 1,000 high school students from different science clubs all over the Philippines arrived at the La Virginia Resort in Batangas to participate in a 4-day Science Camp organized by the Philippine Society of Youth Science Clubs (PSYSC). The event entitled “SYNERGON: Initializing the Power Protocols” allowed participants to explore the field of Energy Systems through exciting activities like workshops, seminars, competitions, and a highly anticipated immersive educational trip.

The opening night of CAMP last July 26 welcomed the participants in high spirits through a medley of song and dance performances prepared by the organizers while explaining to the audience what they can expect for the coming days. Quiz competition results were also revealed at the end which heightened the excitement of the students. Prior to the science camp, future PSYSC council members also had a leadership training where Knowledge Channel Foundation (KCFI) Director for Operations Edric Calma delivered a talk on leading non-profit initiatives. Zoey Bianca Medilla, a student of Philippine Science High School Main Campus in Quezon City, shared how the event has helped her gain more friends and knowledge: “The event was a really fruitful learning experience for everyone because of all the trainings, immersion, and field trip that we had. We had the taste of how it would be like to be the future regional council of PSYSC and we hope that all the stuff that we learned from this camp will be translated into all the good works we would like to do in the future.”

With over 120,000 affiliate members all over the country, PSYSC has been the largest umbrella organization of science clubs in the Philippines, duly recognized as the premier organization that promotes advancements in science, new development in technology, and environmental awareness. For 48 years, PSYSC has had a growing membership base coming from top universities and has been working with private institutions and government agencies such as the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and the Department of Education (DepEd).
