While waiting for the kids to warm up for the interview, the MathDali theme song was playing. It was a surprise that they knew the lyrics and sang through it until the end. One of them even exclaimed, “MathDali ‘yan eh.”
Since the show launched in June last year, their school, San Jose del Monte Central School, was part of Project MathDali. This endeavor by Knowledge Channel Foundation (KCFI) primarily aims to positively change the mindsets of students toward learning Math. Alongside this is the development of conceptual understanding, critical thinking, and problem solving.
Numeracy skills and values
Through MathDali, these four students found the motivation and eagerness to learn Math. “Maganda kasi yung mga bata mas naging mas motivated sila magperform sa Math class… Talagang sineseryoso nila. Yun yung pagtanggap ng mga bata dun sa program,” said Knowledge Channel’s MathDali Project Officer Liezl Vinluan.
“Dati din po nalilito ako mag-divide tapos ngayon alam ko na po kasi may istorya at nakikita ko pa sa TV,” shared JB.
But an educational TV program like MathDali does not only aim to help learners improve their Math skills. More than anything else, MathDali also taught them to aim high and dream big.
