#SchoolAnywhere: Kwentong Balik Eskwela with Knowledge Channel!
With the start of face-to-face Balik Eskwela nationwide, Knowledge Channel Foundation, Inc. (KCFI) continues to reach more and teach more through its #SchoolAnywhere campaign, which aims to make learning and education more accessible to Filipino students and teachers, whenever and wherever they may be.
Two schools, one in Kulaman, Sultan Kudarat and the other in Guinayangan, Quezon share with their learners the joy of learning with Knowledge Channel video lessons.
In barangay Kulaman in Sultan Kudarat, teachers from Gapok Central School launched Kabayo ni Juan 2.0, which aims to teach and deliver reading resources to the mountainous regions in their area with the help of an unusual companion – a horse!
“Ang Kabayo ni Juan ay isa sa mga ginagawa naming hakbang upang maipagpatuloy ang edukasyon ng mga kabataan, lalo na ang mga nasa kasulok-sulukang bahagi ng aming lugar,”
said Romel Lotilla, principal of Gapok Central School.
The Kabayo ni Juan program is designed to teach children how to read with the help of parents and volunteers, as well as with the use of various learning resources. Among these resources is the Knowledge Channel Portable Media Library or KC PML, an external hard disk drive loaded with DepEd aligned curriculum-based video lessons, e-modules, e-session guides, and other related materials. Through a laptop, a small monitor, speakers, and the KC PML, Kabayo ni Juan is able to share the joy of learning to students wherever they are.
More than 1,000 kilometers away, at Guinayangan Elementary School in Quezon, the Grade 3 class of Mr. Mon Malihan started off their school year by watching Wikaharian, a series for Filipino reading, on the school’s Knowledge TV.
Whether in a classroom in Quezon or in the mountains of Sultan Kudarat, Knowledge Channel is there to help bring “school anywhere.”
Knowledge Channel is on air via satellite and cable and via free TV on A2Z from Mondays to Fridays, 7am and on Kapamilya Channel every Sunday, 7am.
