On its 25th year of supporting education and early childhood development through curriculum-based broadcasting and training programs for educators and other care providers of children, and alongside the celebration of National Children’s Month (NCM), the Knowledge Channel Foundation, Inc. (KCFI) is steadfast in its mission for the Filipino children.

KCFI President and Executive Director Rina Lopez (second from left) and DepEd Secretary Sonny Angara (middle) shook hands after signing KCFI and DepEd’s new MOA last October 8.

Last month, KCFI and the Department of Education (DepEd) signed a new memorandum of agreement (MOA) to continuously co-develop curriculum-based learning resources for Early Childhood Development (ECD) and Basic Education, with emphasis on early language literacies or reading and numeracy or Math specifically for the primary grades, provision of support in training teachers, and exploring opportunities wherein Knowledge Channel would provide airtime for DepEd’s institutional communication and as key broadcast partner.

The launch of EcoPlay marks the fourth year of KCFI's continuous partnership with Unilever-Breeze.

KCFI also launched EcoPlay with Unilever-Breeze and the DepEd Schools Division Offices of Taguig-Pateros, Marikina and Quezon City on October 7. Grades 4, 5, and 6 learners from the Schools Division Offices (SDOs) will play traditional Filipino games as afterschool application of physical education (PE) curriculum concepts and to promote not only children engagement in healthy physical activities, but appreciation of local culture and resiliency among the youth. EcoPlay marks the fourth straight year of KCFI's current collaboration with Unilever-Breeze. The partnership previously implemented the environmental conservation-focused and award-winning EcoProject. It also produced and distributed curriculum-based video lessons.

Knowledge Channel bags three awards for its adherence to Child-Friendly Content Standards during the NCCT's 27th Anniversary Kickoff.

KCFI also continues to reap awards. The National Council for Children’s Television awarded KCFI for its Outstanding Commitment to Child-Friendly Content Standards while its MathDali and Puno Ng Buhay shows also received recognition for their Exemplary Adherence to child-friendly standards.

In line with its mission, KCFI provided Knowledge Channel TV (KCTV) packages and corresponding technical training for Anastacio Canda Elementary School in Davao through partner Aboitiz Foundation, and for E.M. Fabella-Ansaldo Elementary School in Oriental Mindoro through partner Salesforce last month. The technical training orients teachers on maximizing the use of Knowledge Channel learning resources and enhancing lesson engagement for the learners at the beneficiary schools.

On KCFI’s 25th year and this National Children’s Month, we invite you to join our mission to democratize quality education for Filipino children by gifting Knowledge Channel TV (KCTV) or Knowledge Channel Portable Media Library (KCPML) to public schools or child development centers.
