CEMEX Philippines Foundation and Knowledge Channel Foundation Inc. Unveil ‘Tropang K!likasan’ to Advocate Waste Segregation

In a concerted effort to promote environmental awareness and sustainable practices among the youth, the Knowledge Channel Foundation, Inc. (KCFI) and CEMEX Philippines Foundation have jointly launched a groundbreaking initiative titled "Tropang K!Likasan." This innovative educational and entertainment program, aimed at fostering environmental stewardship, was officially introduced on April 23rd at San Antonio Village Elementary School in Antipolo City.
"Tropang K!Likasan" revolves around the core principles of waste management, with a strong emphasis on the 3R's - REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE. Scheduled to air every Tuesday and Thursday as part of the Grade 5 Science curriculum, the program seeks to instill in children the importance of environmental conservation and responsible resource utilization.
CEMEX Philippines Foundation, renowned for its commitment to sustainability, plays a pivotal role in the program's implementation. The company is dedicated to pioneering eco-friendly practices in cement production, exemplified by its emphasis on recycling and repurposing surplus materials to minimize environmental impact.
The launch event, attended by students from San Antonio Village Elementary School, featured prominent figures such as Dr. Lerma Flandez, Officer-in-Charge of the Department of Education Antipolo City Schools Division, and Mr. Rodrigo Rodriguez Jr., Assistant Schools Superintendent. Additionally, Barangay Dalig Captain Catalino Leyva and Ms. Rina Lopez delivered messages of support, underscoring the community's commitment to environmental advocacy.
Erlina Lizardo, Executive Director of CEMEX Philippines Foundation, concluded the event by reiterating the program's objectives and emphasizing the importance of environmental stewardship among the younger generation.
The unveiling of the Waste Segregation Video Launch of "Tropang K!Likasan" marks a significant milestone in the collaborative efforts of CEMEX and the Knowledge Channel Foundation in addressing climate change and empowering youth with the knowledge and skills necessary for a sustainable future.
