DepEd celebrates partnership with KCFI in virtual event

In a Virtual Partner’s Event hosted by the Department of Education last May 14, Knowledge Channel Foundation (KCFI) was recognized as one of the 139 partner organizations that have continued to provide assistance to the biggest bureaucracy in the Philippine government.

In a press release issued by DepEd, Education Chief Leonor Magtolis Briones expressed her gratitude to all the external stakeholders that have continued to work with them despite the COVID-19 Pandemic. “We are very grateful for your continued support for never abandoning us, in fact, a number of you increased your level of support at this very difficult time. For we are threatened not only with COVID-19 pandemic but also with the threat of further exacerbating or worsening the challenges that we face in education,” Secretary Briones said in her message.

DepEd also reported that over Php21 billion worth of resources was “received and reported at the school level nationwide as of December 2020.” A third of this came from the Brigada Eskwela initiative last year where partners in the private and non-government sector provided support to public schools in various ways.

This is KCFI’s 22nd year working with DepEd and its 5th year with Secretary Briones. Under the leadership of KCFI President Rina Lopez, KCFI has provided learners all over the country with unimpeded access to over 1,500 video lessons airing on Knowledge Channel and uploaded on YouTube and knowledgechannel.org, livestreaming of lessons on Knowledge Channel’s Facebook Page, and donations of close to 1,000 Knowledge Channel portable media libraries (allowing teachers to watch and use Knowledge Channel video lessons via an external hard drive) during this pandemic. KCFI has also been actively providing virtual trainings to public schools and DepEd divisions nationwide via its Teaching in the New Normal Training Programs.
