Grade 5 Student Excels in Math Through TV

Tucked between the skyscrapers of Makati City lies the small school grounds of Comembo Elementary School. This is where Chelsea Jemimah Gupo studies, a seemingly average fifth grade student. Just like some of her classmates, she likes Science, Music, and Arts. She is also a choir member and a consistent finalist in speaking contests. But unlike other students of her age, she likes the proverbially feared Mathematics.

Apart from what she learned in class and the guidance of her parents, she credits her love for Math by watching Knowledge Channel. At the same time, natututo rin po ako.”

Chelsea shares that through Knowledge Channel shows for Math, she has become a fast problem-solver and a regular Mathematics Teachers Association Program (MTAP) participant.

Chelsea is just one of many other youngsters who have found a renewed interest in Math and other subjects through Knowledge Channel. And it is through their stories that the Knowledge Channel Foundation is able to find the drive to reach more and teach more Filipino learners. (Photo by: Laura Fellmann)
