KCFI, FPIP Run LEEP for DepEd Supervisors and Officers

50 supervisors and teachers-in-charge from the Department of Education – School Divisions of Tanauan City and Sto. Tomas were trained last December 13-14, 2017 on LEEP or Learning Effectively Through Enhanced and Evidence-Based Pedagogies.

The two-day training spearheaded by Knowledge Channel Foundation Inc. (KCFI) focused on effective and evidence-based 21st century teaching and learning strategies and approaches, and on the use of Knowledge Channel’s multimedia technologies in classroom instruction. It will also be capped by an on-field demonstration on LEEP’s prescribed instructional supervision tenets by the participants this January 2018.

Based on reflections submitted by participants, LEEP was successful in enhancing their skills and knowledge in teaching for the 21st Century.

“This LEEP training program is quite informative for me,” wrote one participant. “It encouraged me to enhance more my way of teaching through using technology effectively.”

Another participant mentioned that LEEP encouraged her to learn from her students as well. “I’ve learned that no matter what strategies/pedagogies we used in teaching the most important thing is how we process our teaching and learning to our students.”

LEEP also promoted critical thinking amongst learners said another participant. “The LEEP training made me realize that we will make our students critical thinkers if we will make them put meaning things that they learn from us, teachers and apply them in their lives.”

This is the 8th LEEP training sponsored by First Philippine Industrial Park (FPIP), a premier industrial complex at the heart of Batangas. Since 2014, more than 270 educators in over 90 public schools in Tanauan City and Sto. Tomas, Batangas have taken LEEP under the partnership of KCFI and FPIP.

To date, more than 6,800 teachers, principals, and education leaders from over 2,000 schools have taken the LEEP in education.
