KCFI Inks MOA with LBC Foundation, DepEd to Train Teachers

A Memorandum of Agreement was signed between Knowledge Channel Foundation (KCFI) and LBC Foundation, along with the Department of Education (DepEd) for the roll out of Knowledge Channel Teaching in the New Normal training program or KCTINN.

The donation of LBC Foundation will be used to train over 600 teachers and principals from 48 schools in the following areas: Quirino Province, Catanduanes, Marawi City, Tarlac, Northern Samar, and Davao City. The selected areas have been part of LBC Foundation’s long-standing efforts in supporting the improvement of education in the country.

During a ceremonial virtual MOA signing event, Lopez expressed her gratitude to LBC Foundation and DepEd as they work together in addressing the Philippines learning crisis. “Know that our training program on Teaching in the New Normal will not only benefit the select principals and teachers, but will also help them make a huge difference in the lives of the thousands of students that they serve,” Lopez stated in her opening remarks.

LBC Foundation, who’s been a long-standing advocate in the education sector, is also eager to partner with KCFI in reaching and supporting more teachers. “Together our collaborative effort will bring learning to more children in need, giving them  the tools necessary to continue to pursue their dreams of a brighter future during these very challenging times,” said Christine Wuthrich, Executive director of LBC Foundation.

The Department of Education expressed their support for this partnership, highlighting how this collaboration will help strengthen distance learning efforts. “The importance of equipping our schools, our teachers, our learners to have that capability to engage in distance learning is definitely very important,” Usec. Tonisito Umali of DepEd remarked.

DepEd Schools Division Superintendents (SDS) from the six participating areas also expressed their support during the virtual ceremony: Dr. Reynaldo Guillena (SDS of Davao City), Dr. Susan Collano (SDS of DepEd Catanduanes), Dr. Flordeliza Gecobe (SDS of Quirino Province), Dr. Ronaldo Pozon (SDS of DepEd Tarlac), Dr. Pharida Sansarona (SDS of DepEd Marawi City), and Dr. Gorgonio Diaz (SDS of DepEd Northern Samar).
