Official Statement on the COVID-19 Pandemic
Our country is facing a crisis it has never encountered before. As the world faces the COVID-19 pandemic, the Philippine government has imposed measures to fight the rapid spread of the virus by enforcing community quarantine in Metro Manila and other areas starting March 16, 2020. Citizens, especially our young learners have been, asked to stay at home. The Department of Education (DepEd) has cancelled classes until April 14, 2020.
The Knowledge Channel Foundation, Inc. (KCFI) supports the government in addressing the threat posed by COVID-19 and will help ensure that learning continues for all Filipino children affected by this crisis.
Considering this developing situation, KCFI is enforcing the following measures:
Implementation of Work from Home Scheme
Since March 12, KCFI adopted a Work From Home (WFH) scheme to protect its employees and their families from contracting and spreading the virus. All KCFI employees are required to stay indoors in performing their duties and responsibilities and to strictly practice social distancing at all times.
KCFI employees may be contacted via their respective office email addresses and social media accounts. For general inquiries, please email us at info@knowledgechannel.org. Our office landline will not be available at this time.
Postponement of Activities and Meetings
KCFI has postponed all its field activities and meetings from March 16 to April 14, 2020 or until the government has lifted the community quarantine in Metro Manila. These activities include official events, ceremonial turnovers, trainings, tests, focus group discussions, shoots, and the like within Metro Manila and nationwide. KCFI employees may engage in digital internal and external meetings. Resumption of KCFI activities is subject to evaluation of the management depending on the directives of the government and on the safety and security of everyone involved.
Activation of Edukalidad sa Kalamidad for COVID-19 Pandemic
Following the cancellation of school and the enforcement of community quarantine in Metro Manila and other cities and provinces, KCFI will be activating once again, the EduKalidad sa Kalamidad Emergency Education Program. In line with the Sulong EduKalidad Program of DepEd, Knowledge Channel will be airing educational shows based on the K to 12 curriculum following DepEd’s budget of work for the fourth grading period from hereon until the rest of the summer months.
Knowledge Channel and its online platforms are alternative delivery modes for learning in man-made and natural emergencies. With KCFI’s “Stay at Home, Learn at Home”, teachers, parents, and learners may continue learning via Knowledge Channel on ABS-CBN TV Plus Channel 7, SKYDirect, SKY Cable, and other cable service partners across the country. The same Knowledge Channel videos may be accessed and downloaded online at www.knowledgechannel.org and on its official YouTube Channel /knowledgechannelorg.
As a media and education entity, KCFI will continue to disseminate only credible and educational information with regards to the ongoing developments on the COVID-19 Pandemic. These will be regularly posted on our website www.knowledgechannel.org and Facebook pages: /knowledgechannel and /knowledgechannelfoundation.
KCFI will also continue to accept donations, especially to help sustain EduKalidad sa Kalamidad and other projects that will benefit our learners, especially in times of crisis.
