Knowledge Channel launches new learning platform

Students with internet access can continue learning at home via new learning through the “Stay at Home, Learn at Home” microsite

Since the implementation of the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) last March 17, schools have been temporarily closed cutting short the final quarter of the school year. With kids having to stay at home for the duration for the ECQ, parents and teachers have been looking for ways to fill in missed lessons.

The first to respond to this need was Knowledge Channel Foundation, Inc. (KCFI) and the Department of Education, through the implementation of the EduKalidad sa Kalamidad emergency education program. It was first launched in January, during the Taal Volcano eruption, which led to the suspension of classes in Batangas. The program used the Knowledge Channel as an alternative learning delivery mode for teachers and students so they can catch up with their lessons via television.

With the threat of the COVID-19 Pandemic, EduKalidad sa Kalamidad was further strengthened by partnering with ABS-CBN in creating the “Stay at Home, Learn at Home” Campaign. Aside from airing topics aligned to the 4th quarter lessons of DepEd on Knowledge Channel, educational shows like Sinesekwela, Bayani, and Hiraya Manawari were also re-aired on ABS-CBN. Episode guides and activities were also uploaded daily on the Knowledge Channel Facebook Page.

A new addition to this campaign is the “Stay at Home, Learn at Home” microsite created by KCFI. The new learning platform houses hundreds of educational videos from Grades 1 to 12 based on DepEd’s 4th quarter lessons. Users can navigate the contents by grade level or subject or use the search bar to quickly find videos. Each video also has a topic title and description.
