Knowledge Channel Foundation Inc. (KCFI) recently trained more than 400 principals and teachers from Romblon and Marikina under Learning Effectively through Enhanced and Evidence Pedagogies (LEEP), Knowledge Channel Foundation’s flagship teacher training program on 21st century classroom pedagogies centered on constructivism.
The three-day training in Romblon was made possible through the help of the Department of Education (DepEd) – Division of Romblon headed by then Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Roger Capa.
LEEP in Romblon was attended by 303 participants and were divided into three consecutive runs: May 27-29, May 30 – June 1, and June 6 – 8 done in Odiongan and Romblon, Romblon.
“Bilang isang participant sa seminar na ito ako po ay nagagalak sa mga activities na pinapagawa sa amin. Hindi ko naramdaman na ako ay isang participant. Usually kami ay nakikinig lamang at passive pero, dito ay binibigyan ng iba’t ibang activities na kung saan kami nage-enjoy at nae-engage at the same time,” said Mr. Agusto Imperial, Principal of Concepcion Norte Elementary School.
Meanwhile, LEEP in Marikina took place from July 3-5 at the Marikina Convention Center and was participated by 99 teachers and school principals funded by the local government unit. DepEd- Division of Marikina staff and supervisors were also in attendance to observe and interact with LEEP participants as they are trained into shifting traditional teaching strategies to engaging learning experiences.
LEEP is a training program designed by KCFI for elementary and secondary school teachers, principals and even education supervisors to promote active participation, collaboration, critical thinking and other learner-centered strategies in the classroom.
All participating schools were equipped with Knowledge Channel Portable Media Libraries containing more than a thousand curriculum-based, Department of Education (DepEd)-approved videos, learning modules, session guides, and educational games.
To date, LEEP has trained more than 3,000 teachers in more than 900 schools nationwide. Help a teacher take a LEEP so more teachers can benefit from this unique and innovative training experience. For donations, please contact Ms. Liberty Reyes at liberty.reyes@knowledgechannel.org
