KCFI’s Learning Initiatives and Training Program: A Step Closer to a Better Tomorrow
By Nadine Faye Maglalang
Working towards the vision of reaching more and teaching more, KCFI shared the love of learning and passion for teaching through two in-person training rollouts this month under its Learning Effectively through Enhanced and Evidence-Based Pedagogies training program (LEEP) this 2023.
LEEP – Reading is focused on the strategies and methods teachers may use to teach early language literacy. This rollout was conducted in partnership with RCMPD and other Rotary clubs in the Philippines and South Korea through Rotary’s Global Grant 1984848. The training for Santa Rosa City’s grade 1 teachers is part of KCFI’s Basa Bilang Project to develop strong educational foundations by enhancing beginning reading and numeracy skills. Teachers received a Knowledge Channel Portable Media Library video lesson containing episodes of "Ready, Set, Read!". It is produced through the Rotary Club of Makati Premier District’s (RCMPD) education project supported by Rotary’s Global Grant and a host of partner Rotary clubs, which teaches the basics of early language literacies for Grade 1 learners.
LEEP – ECD on the other hand, was conducted for the early childhood development (ECD) workers/teachers of the town of Lobo in Batangas province. It focused on how best to stimulate the minds of 0–4-year-old children and guide them in their holistic development. LEEP – ECD was made possible through the Pillar Grant of RCPMD, RC Makati East, RC Rosewood, RC Muntinlupa East, and RC District 3620.
KFCI’s undying commitment to working towards reaching and teaching more people has shined in all these programs. The vision for the future remains intact, and the foundation built in the present will surely stand the test of time in our goal to help create a more literate and holistically developed country. That will, in turn, make the world a better place.
